Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders may learn differently than their typically developing peers do. We use evidence based practices to build on the strengths and needs of the clients we serve based on the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). We also work on skills through play and naturally occurring teaching opportunities.
We also believe that parental involvement is key to ensuring that the teaching strategies we employ are able to be used with other family members and friends and to help generalize the skills being taught.

Intensive Behaviour Intervention Services
  • Initial assessment (play based using VB-MAPP or ABLL-S)
  • Development of an intensive behaviour intervention plan
  • Individualized programming that works on all developmental areas (e.g., play, academic skills, communication, self-help skills, social skills, & gross and fine motor skills)
  • Monitoring and evaluating child's progress through data collection, in-home visits, and monthly team meetings
  • Development of positive behaviour support plans
  • Training of Behaviour Aides
  • Family support and training including behaviour management in the home, sleeping concerns, and eating concerns
  • Collaboration with other service providers (e.g., Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Preschool and School personnel)

Services are typically conducted at the family's home or the child's preschool and/or daycare. Our clients typically receive up to 15 hours per week within the Intensive Behaviour Intervention Program (please note that this program is a privately funded therapy and is not funded through FSCD).
